How to use this one piece of habit advice that’s extremely effective, but usually hard to implement
#100HABITSIN100DAYS | DAY 22

You’ve probably heard it before …
If you want to start a gym habit, hire a personal trainer.
If you want to learn a new skill, hire a personal coach.
If you want to start a new business, get a personal mentor.
Having an expert on your side can help you in all sorts of ways.
Creating a plan that fits your current skill level, leverages your personal strengths, helps you improve any limiting weaknesses, keeps in mind your unique circumstances, and is based on your personal preferences and goals.
Staying accountable, making it easier to follow your plan even on those days that you don’t really feel like it.
Encourages you to keep pursuing your goal, even when you lose a bit of momentum or motivation sinks.
Helps you tackle any obstacles.
Gives your personal feedback so you know what to focus on and helps you learn faster.
And so on.
We get it.
But most of us are not in the position to spend a few hundred bucks a month to help us establish new habits.
However, there are ways to get really affordable 1-on-1 coaching.
It just requires some creativity, googling, and a bit more initiative:
– Superprof is a website where you can find a personal teacher from anywhere in the world, both online and offline. The combination of online and worldwide makes it easier to find an affordable option. Some teachers have great reviews and only charge $10 an hour.
– Group coaching programs are often way more affordable than private coaching, and often give you the opportunity to get personal feedback and ask questions 1-on-1 during coaching/ Q&A calls.
– Memberships or courses with a strong online community, similar to group coaching programs, often provide a chance to get expert (and community) feedback in something like a Facebook group. As well as give you opportunities for accountability.
Using these techniques I’ve found among others
– A ballet coach Isabella (about €35/ month paid yearly, includes personal training plan, 30-min monthly 1-on-1 coaching call, video training review, access to online courses and lessons).
– An entrepreneurial coach Evelyn (about $65/ month paid yearly, includes weekly video feedback on marketing materials, multiple weekly group coaching calls, daily support via FB group, access to online courses, and way more. She even has a $7/ month membership that includes some coaching options as well).
It might require a little bit of trial-and-error to find a program or person that you vibe with and to get the most out of the coaching options that are available, but it will make building your new habit a lot easier and effective.
Here is my new habit recipe for today (altough it’s a bit late to add another monthly habit):
And, in case you’re curious my challenge progress so far.
Ready to take your habit to the next level?
If you’re serious about reaching a goal, but feel overwhelmed and are unsure where to start, turn finding an affordable coach into a game.
Challenge yourself to find an option that provides maximum support for an investment that’s still manageable.
One other great place to look, except for Google, is search for Facebook groups.
A lot of group coaching programs, memberships, and online courses use Facebook for their online community.
Pro tip: look at how many posts are posted daily to get a sense of engagement, then check out the website for more information on the program itself.
This is how I found Evelyn, and I couldn’t be more grateful. You would not be reading this post if it wasn’t for her.
If you have any questions, please let me know or ask them on the live Thursday at 16.30 CET in the Mighty Habits Facebook group.
