Submit one item for feedback every week

HABIT #35

Starting Monday, 9 January 2023 | Day 20

Details & Clarification

I’m part of a program that teaches you how to create a coaching membership. One of the things you can do is get feedback on marketing materials like a lead magnet, sales page, or email sequence. For some items you can do this by submitting it to a form, and for other you can post it in the Facebook group. I want to submit one item each week.

Starting point & Lessons from the past

I’ve done this pretty consistently at the end of November and beginning of December, but with holiday break and not feeling well at the beginning of January, I let it slip.

Why this habit is important to me:

  • Getting expert feedback is one of the fastest way to learn. And, even though I’ve been learning about marketing for quite some time, there’s a big difference between understanding the theory and being able to apply it.
  • It helps me battle perfectionism and reduce overwhelm. Knowing that I will get feedback on something makes it easier for me to create a first version. If I’m missing something essential or not focusing enough on something, I will hear it so it’s easier to finish the first draft. Also having a deadline to submit something helps me avoid endless tweaking. I also feel less overwhelmed because I get concrete feedback that I can implement right away, as opposed to having a long list of principles that I should somehow incorporate.
  • Both of these will help me launch and make my business more successful faster (or at least not so super slow). Which will allows me to use my skills, interests, and values to generate an income and make a positive impact on people’s lives while doing something I love.

Identities I want to build with this habit:

  • Value-driven entrepreneur

Trigger:

  • I’ve added a recurring task for Mondays in my Akiflow app, to decide on the item I want to create and submit, and then I will add that task including submitting it for feedback to my Akiflow app somewhere during the week.

Tracking:

  • I will track this habit in my Akiflow app.

Habit boosters (things that will help me follow through):

  • Public accountability: Having it part of this public challenge will boost my motivation to follow through.
  • Community: Being part of the Facebook group for this program will help me take actions that are aligned with the goal of the community (growing your business using coaching memberships and more specificially using this coaching membership to do so). Seeing posts with feedback (videos) for others will also help remind me to submit one myself.

Obstacle battleplans (how I’ll deal with potential obstacles):

  • Perfectionism: I know from past experiences I find it hard to create a good-enough version of something. The templates and examples inside the membership will help me tackle this, as it’s easier to create a first version using a template, than starting from scratch. The weekly deadline will also help me to ‘just ship’.
