Go live every week in the Mighty Habits FB group

HABIT #2

Starting Wednesday, 21 December 2022

Details & Clarification

I want to go live in the Mighty Habits Facebook group every week and share an update on my #100habitsin100days challenge, aiming to make it as insightful and inspiring as possible. II will start the live with some training on habit-building, then dive into the stats, next I’ll go over some of the new habits and habit updates that I added over the past week, and finally I’ll answer questions if there are any.

Starting point & Lessons from the past

I went live once, last week. I struggled with looking into the camera, so this is something to keep in mind when doing my lives. I think having a list of bullet points on my screen will be useful, especially for longer lives, to keep myself on track.

Why this habit is important to me:

  • It will help my business as it’s a great way to engage with my audience, provide them with insights and inspiration, especially for those that prefer video over text. It will also give me the opportunity to connect with my MH tribe, in more of a natural, conversational dialogue (as opposed to me just posting text-based updates).
  • It will make this challenge more valuable and make me more likely to follow through on my habits. Knowing I will go live each week and have to provide an update will help me keep track of all my habits, and keep an eye out for interesting things to share.
  • It will help me develop the skill of (live) video. I am definitely not a natural on video. But I do believe it’s a very powerful format to connect with others and share something valuable.

Identities I want to build with this habit:

  • Value-driven entrepreneur
  • Habit designer

Trigger:

  • I will go live every Thursday at 16.30.

Tracking:

  • I will track my habit in Akiflow, checking it off as I’m done with the live.

Habit boosters (things that will help me follow through):

  • Public accountability: Since I will be doing the live in a (semi) public group, and have it part of this public challenge, I will leverage the public accountability to keep me going.
  • Pre-commitment: I will schedule the lives in advance in the MH Facebook group, making it that much harder not to show up.
  • Coaching accountability: This is another strategy suggested by my ‘entrepreneurial’ coach, so, knowing I will check in with her once a week, will also help to follow through.

Obstacle battleplans (how I’ll deal with potential obstacles):

  • Not knowing what to say: I will create a list of bullet points before hand, so I know roughly what to say. Since the format will pretty much be the same every time, I suspect it will get easier along the way, so I will try to keep this in mind for the first few lives..
  • Being uncertain of the value: Although I have a lot of reasons to believe going live and sharing this journey will be valuable, at the same time I can question whether anyone is interested. I will try to keep in mind that I came up with this idea after studying the ‘first principles’ of content marketing, so it’s based on best practices. I will also try to keep in mind that the only way to find out is to test it. Plus, I would like this type of content, and therefore there are probably others that will find it interesting as well.
  • Fear of live video: I feel extremely uncomfortable on video, and I get really nervous when I know I have to record myself. The scheduling in advance will definitely help with this as it feels like ‘there’s no way back’. I will also remind myself that stepping out of your comfort zone is how we learn and grow.

Habit update 16th of January 2023

I’ve updated my routine: I will start the live with some training on habit-building, then dive into the stats, next I’ll go over some of the new habits and habit updates that I added over the past week, and finally I’ll answer questions if there are any.
